2001 ASPS BOOK OF THE YEAR
    "When Stones Speak"
    by Debbie W. Parvin
    Montgomery, Alabama

Judge Janeen Lepp holds a Ph.D. in English and has taught for years in the Ohio state educa-tion system. She is active in the Ohio State Poetry Society and for at least three years has served on that Society's com-mittee for selecting their Book of the Year. Dr. Lepp said this about "When Stones Speak" by Debbie Parvin: "I feel that this is the most consistently even book in quality and one with the widest range of themes and styles. The poems are finely crafted and often compelling. Overall the book has a distinct professional quality."
